Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Marrakech → High Atlas → Aït Benhaddou → Dadès Gorge
Depart Marrakech at 7:00am heading south through the dramatic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass (2,260m) — one of Morocco's most scenic drives with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and Berber villages. Stop at the iconic Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage ksar and filming location for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. Continue through the Valley of Roses and the stunning Dadès Gorge, where towering red canyon walls rise over 300 metres above the valley floor. Overnight in a traditional riad in Boumalne Dadès.
Day 2 – Dadès → Todra Gorge → Merzouga Sahara Desert
After a traditional Moroccan breakfast, drive through the spectacular Todra Gorge — Morocco's most dramatic canyon with walls reaching 300m high and only 10m wide at the narrowest point, carved by the Todra River over millions of years. Continue east through the Ziz Valley palm grove oasis and the lunar pre-Saharan plains. Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon. Mount your camel and ride into the legendary Erg Chebbi dunes for a golden-hour sunset. Spend the night in a luxury Berber desert camp under a sky full of stars, with traditional Gnawa music around the fire.
Day 3 – Sahara Sunrise → Draa Valley → Return to Marrakech
Wake before dawn to watch the Sahara sunrise paint the Erg Chebbi dunes in shades of amber, crimson and gold — one of the most breathtaking natural spectacles on earth. After a traditional Berber breakfast at camp, begin the return journey west through the ancient Draa Valley — Morocco's longest valley at over 200km, lined with centuries-old kasbahs, lush palm groves, and authentic Berber villages. Pass through Ouarzazate before crossing back over the High Atlas Mountains. Arrive in Marrakech by early evening.
