Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Merzouga to Midelt via Ziz Valley
Depart Merzouga after breakfast, driving north through the spectacular Ziz Valley — a dramatic gorge carved through the limestone plateau, lined with thousands of date palms stretching as far as the eye can see. Stop at Er-Rachidia, the gateway to the Sahara, for lunch and exploration. Continue north through the pre-Saharan plains and the Ziz gorge to the mountain town of Midelt, known as the 'capital of apples', set dramatically between the High and Middle Atlas ranges. Overnight in Midelt.
Day 2 – Midelt to Fes via Ifrane
After breakfast, drive through the stunning cedar forests of Ifrane — Morocco's 'Little Switzerland' with its European-style chalets and manicured parks. Stop to spot the famous Barbary macaques that roam freely in the cedar forest. Continue to the charming town of Ifrane before descending to the imperial city of Fes, arriving in time to explore the ancient medina.
